Denver Book Mall - (4/5)

Usually the favorite of the used book repository that is Broadway, consider this a giant flea market for literature. As with any used store, it can be hit or miss. Still a great place for old classics and new favorites.

Denver Book Fair - (3/5)

Some day, I hope to figure out how Broadway has attracted as many bookstores as it has bars. Of the lot, this has to be the most entertaining. The store is rather narrow and VERY long, with books stacked floor to ceiling. The Book Fair is unique in that it also has a huge variety of old magazines. Looking for a 1980s bodybuilding mag? No problem, he has a whole stack. While the massive stacks of paperbacks and periodicals make for an impressive sight, they do little for organization. If you are looking to pop in and grab a cheap copy of "The Poisonwood Bible," I suggest you keep moving. If you're wanting to give your mummy a bird watching magazine from the month of your birth (March 1984 is taken, sorry) then this is the place for you.

Famous Pizza - (2/5)

Not every painting can be the Mona Lisa, just like every schmuck with a typewriter can't be Hemingway and every kid in band can't grow up to be Morrissey. Along a similar line, not every pizzeria can be top of the line. However, when you're just out of the Hi-Dive, still buzzing from another great conert, or wandering out of Three Kings full of liquid courage, Famous hits the spot. $2 a slice and tables that may have been bought at a DMV auction don't seem half bad at 2 AM. You can do much worse when it comes to cheap eats.

Two-Fisted Mario's - (4/5)

Connected to Double Daughter's (and named after the owner of both), Mario's is a hip $2 slice pizza parlor complete with those tables that have 1980's arcade games built in. With metal flowing through the speakers and PBR on tap, it is juxtaposed nicely with DD's cocktails and dance tracks. Popular for a reason, this place is a great stop for that impromptu bar meal. Everyone knows this fact, so expect longer lines at 1 AM on Saturday than 7 PM Wednesday.

Pizza Vera - (5/5)

Over the past 13 years I have been a huge fan of this place. Super cheap, Big Slices, and the best ranch dressing in town!

Just recently I believe that Pizza Vera is under new ownership, and it has improved quite a bit! I thought it couldn't get any better!

they always have awesome movies to watch on that little TV in the corner while you're eating!

The only Con I can think of is that sometimes they don't have your favorite slices ready for eating when you get there.
