There is no lovelier, more welcoming store in the whole of the 16th St Mall, nor in the whole of Colorado for that matter, than this LoDo branch of the TC triumvirate. Since the Cherry Creek closing and relocation to East Colfax, the LoDo branch is now the oldest, installing itself in the beautiful Morey Mercantile warehouse in 1994. Exposed interior framing and cozy, antique furnishings lend a rustic touch to your exploration of two floors of books, so like a Borgesian paradise, that you might find yourself hard-pressed to leave. All TC branches offer literary events, from readings (kids' storytimes are especially popular), signings, and community discussions, as well as coffeeshops and newsstands (non-English press included).

There's hardly anyone here when I come in the early afternoons on weekdays, but I'm sure it's hopping during others times of the day/week, given its prime downtown location. While the offerings are nothing to write home about, I appreciate its high ceilings, music selection (I usually don't know who it is but I can always tune it out), and big front room windows. I can easily while away a few hours here reading or writing. The baristas are swell...as well.

Great breakfast joint. I highly recommend the steak and eggs benedict. Several friends rave about their pancakes, and they always have a very creative pancake of the day. I'll have to try them next time. The manager and all the staff are all quite friendly and will keep your coffee topped off regularly, but not to the point of annoyance.

Word of caution: Sunday and Saturday mornings betweeen 10 and 1 can be pretty busy so expect a wait then. They do have a self-serve coffee station for your wait though, so that helps.

Here's where to get your fancy Italian ice cream after a long day spent at the masseur's, the tanner's, and John Atencio, respectively. When it's hot and I feel like splurging (or have friends that treat!), I go for a bowl of bacio and something fruity, though with 32 "dizzying" flavors, you can try them all, with each successive visit. You can also get gelato cocktails, and of course, (illy?) coffee.

The chic interior, "downtown" clientele, and my relatively sparse knowledge of South Asian cuisine has yet to deter me from taking advantage of the wonderful lunch buffet (11-2, I would like to say)--around $9 bucks for all you can eat veggie pakoras, aloo gobi, etc. While that may seem steep, it's actually quite a good deal considering the ...
