Take everything that is broken with Startbucks, fix it, and you get Alsur.
It's not just the perfect hang out for the geek mind, with free wifi, plenty of power plugs and five apple-TVs with earphones on the wall, they also serve delicious breakfast and snacks. In the back there is a club room for nightly chillouts - which I didn't test drive as I was (actually I am) there during the day.

The place you go when you want to avoid all the tourists that pester Calabria in summertime.
Just the average Italian espresso bar, where the young villagers hang out until after midnight on weekends. Very nice people running the place.

*Attention*: Only open from march to mid-october!
The third Bortolotto on Mariahilferstrasse, smaller than the two others, with a much more limited selection of ice cream. The Bortolotti serves ice cream above average, yet nothing really special. Good and worth trying, but not among the top 5 in Vienna.

Very small place on Naschmarkt, just about 6 bar stools (plus a small Gastgarten when the weather allows).
Small (daily changing) selection of *very* delicious indian food at decent prices. The place is often packed (at lunch time with office people) and closes already in the early evening.
PS. The marker on the map is misguiding - in reality it's located between the two roads, not on the north side of naschmarkt.

The Saint Charles is a special place.
It's part of the pharmacy of the same name (yes, pharmacy) and consists of a small kitchen and two tables. They cook in a bio-organic-save-the-world way (I admit I don't know the details) and only serve stuff that they have seen growing with their own eyes. No coffee for example, as they have never been to a place where coffee grows.
