saw the van gogh exhibition and the other galleries yesterday.

of course packed with people...surprinsingly, the gallery with the artists after 1970 was much more interesting than the van gogh exhibition, i pretty much like his works though...

I wasn't really overwhelmed, my travel-guide described it as "the cornerstone of vegetarian cuisine in NYC".

I hope that's not true, because that lunch special I had (maybe just bad luck) was really boring. dhaal with tofu, a really good cranberry dip and strange decoration (wasn't sure how to eat that), apart from dip and decoration I could have prepared this at home easily. Cash only. Nice atmosphere. Service is okay, but could be better tough.

cool setting, been there twice, nice staff, delicious food;

range consists of sandwiches, burgers and ricebowls; there is a special brunch menu sat and sundays... leave room for desserts since the cakes are really yummy ;-) on brunch days, try the special brunch plates, sandwiches make a full meal. take out is also possible, nice backyard seating area! had a great time...

veg*an hausmannskost at its best...

i still wish they would put it somewhere more near me, without a car, I can't go there as often as I'd like to :-( you can't go wrong by picking the daily meal or order something else...they got cocktails and games for nice evenings.

really good fast-food.

also had the thai curry...the french fries my friend had were also good. was quite surprised when people continued to drop in and it was full... a vegan diner in favoriten, then everything's possible :-)) funny fact: next to a butcher and on the opposite side of the street there's a schnitzelhaus...quite a contrast...

they have two vegan sandwiches...

and they also got bionade ;-)

really nice staff, i remember when they didn't write on the menu which sandwiches were vegan (i believe they had just started then) and they asked in the kitchen for me if the bread was also vegan (you never know ;-)) friend of mine once totally confused one of them, took them quite a time to figure out how much change she'll get...

and yes, they're not cheap...

our favourite pub!

my latest discovery was the szegediner gulasch with fantastic semmelknödel...our favourite drink is the kopparberg pear cider... also, it's a non-smoking place which is great, they only have a small extra-area for smokers ;-)

oh yes, not quite cheap, but university students receive a discount till 28 ;-) if you arrive at 1:30 pm or later, you'll be at 6 €s.

after 5 pm it's even cheaper. quite a walk from the ubahn stop "Schönbrunn", enter through "Meidlinger Tor" keep left and watch out for the obelisk. bring a 1 € coin for the lockers. nice lawn and quite cool pool, they've got special evenings with swimming till 22:00... could spend the whole day here chatting, swimming, reading.

not to miss if you're in nyc!

changing exhibitions (saw the amazing francis bacon retrospective, sry it's already over). there's a good egyptian section, lots of chinese paintings (the collection doesn't need to hide itself from the shanghai museum, in my opinion), furniture of various periods, a chinese garden, asian sculptures, etc etc. don't forget to see the sculpture garden on the roof, although it's hard to find ;-)
