Jon Pfeiffer is an experienced entertainment trial attorney practicing in Santa Monica, California. He has successfully tried over sixty-five cases to conclusion before juries, arbitrators, and judges. Jon specializes in high stakes, "bet the company" entertainment, business and copyright litigation.
Prior to forming the boutique entertainment law firm of Pfeiffer Law Corp, he was the founding and managing partner of Pfeiffer FitzGibbon & Ziontz LLP. Before that, he was a partner with the international law firm of Bryan Cave LLP in its Santa Monica, California office. Jon received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska in 1980, graduating with distinction, and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver in 1983. He is licensed to practice before the United States Supreme Court as well as the courts of the states of Colorado, Nebraska, and California.
Jon believes strongly in community involvement. As such, he has served as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Los Angeles County Municipal Court. He has also served as Chair of the Los Angeles Bar Association’s Trial Attorney Project. In addition, Jon has served as the president of the Santa Monica Bar Association and chair of Santa Monica Bar Association's Entertainment Law Section.
Jon Pfeiffer is an Adjunct Professor at the Seaver College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Jon teaches Media Law (COM 570) and has twice received the Outstanding Adjunct Teaching Award. COM 570 covers First Amendment issues as well as defamation, advertising, obscenity, indecency, privacy (intrusion, private facts, false light and the right of publicity) and copyright. In all he does, Jon displays the utmost levels of dedication and passion. Accordingly, he wrote "A's for Everyone: Acing the College Experience" alongside recent Pepperdine graduate, Amanda Salz. "A's for Everyone" is the ultimate guide for making the transition from high school to college. As both a father and a professor, Jon Pfeiffer offers a unique and well-thought take on how to thrive academically while developing and maintaining lasting relationships.
Over the course of his career, Jon has earned many awards and has been named among the “Super Lawyers” for entertainment for the past seven years. He also has given numerous speeches, written several legal articles, and been featured by notable media outlets.
As his clients will agree, Jon Pfeiffer is driven and constantly is pushing his boundaries to achieve optimal results. To help stay mentally focused he is an avid runner who has completed marathons, half marathons, and many 10 ks and he practices yoga. |
