My favorite falafel in Vienna and some darn good hummus also!
The Nil is famous for it's fine Egyptian cooking and it's casual and friendly atmosphere. The coffee is incredible. The only problem I have with Nil is the amount of cigarette smoke! In the winter months you get a giant mouthful of throat choking cigarette smoke when getting into the door. I don't see the smoking problem in Vienna going away anytime soon I'm afraid.

ETAP is another mega-Turkish restaurant, with seating for well over a hundred and a waiting staff that are always around when you need something.
Their falafel sandwich is great, filled with hummus and fresh salad and smoking hot falafels. Portions are pretty great, so expect a full stomach after you're done.

Cheap and filling falafel sandwiches and salads, with a little extra grease.
Super affordable and quick falafel sandwiches and fries to go, or to eat in, bar-style at the 5 or 6 seats available. The location is a bit cramped, with just that little bit of trashy fast-food joint feel you usually get on the streets of New York. Lots of vegan options, including the legendary Maoz all you can fill buffet.

Maschu is famous in Vienna for it's takeaway falafel sandwich.
Maschu stuffs their falafel sandwiches full of tahini, falafel, veggies (including kraut) and various sauces, all for less than 3,50 EUR each. They have quite a few vegetarian and vegan options in addition to their falafel sandwich (try their hummus!) and their prices are pretty reasonable (but getting higher every 6 months it seems).
Their service is a bit lacking sometimes, so if it looks busy and you actually want some service, it's probably better for you to turn around and head somewhere else

Before I ended up working full-time x2 the Deli was where anyone could find me.
Their hummus is 9 times out of 10 absolutely perfect and their all you can eat bread policy is a damn good one. The addition of a falafel wrap to their menu was a brilliant one and for the price, it's a monster deal which could almost feed 2 people if you're counting the salad and all the lovely grease pouring off of it. There are quite a few vegan options and even more vegetarian ones, so, those preferring no meat need not worry.
The atmosphere is of course Naschmarkt, it's usually hit or miss, depending on if there's a hip music festival going on or not or if some hip DJ is spinning at another location.
The service is also a bit hit or miss, sometimes you've got an extremely nice waiter/tress who is one step below Mother Theresa or the Pope, the other time you have an aspiring actress/model who thinks you should be photographing her while she's conveniently ignoring your need for a refill of bread.

Extremely healthy vegetarian and vegan restaurant, with seating directly on the Prinsengracht.
Leaning heavily to the Mediterranean side, Bolhoed is an experience in healthy, homemade meals, with huge portions of fresh vegetables, herbs and spices. Some of the best hummus I've ever tasted, along with a wonderful curried tofu scramble made our brunch there absolutely perfect.

A surprising find, the Ronahi is a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant hidden in a somewhat quiet street in the 7th.
Interior is nice and clean, featuring 2 floors and comfortable, casual seating around darkwood tables with gentle music throughout.
The food is filling and quite affordable, since it seems students are Ronahi's primary demographic. Oh, Ronahi provides free wireless internet, so, expect to be surrounding by a handful of students clacking away on their keyboards while downing a bowl of hummus.
OH, one more thing, they have DR PEPPER on the menu. You Amerikanskis know what I'm talking about.

Another excellent lunch at Sababa.
Some of the best falafel dishes in Wien, with extremely fast service, 99% of the time friendly. Bit of a warning, they sometimes have a few items on the menu with the same name, so it's recommended you try to point and/or describe exactly what dish you're expecting (case in point - the dish named "Hummus & Falafel" actually can mean 3 different menu items, with 3 different prices.
Overall though, worth a visit if you need a fast, cheap mediterranean meal. Also serves various beers from around the World, so if you're drinking lunch, it's also a good stop.
