their product design is just gorgeous. everything is fair trade too and they use quite diverse models in their ads.

...after all it's still just beauty industry and capitalism. but i like it!

the pastries are a little bit overpriced but definitely worth to spend a little bit more. they use no refined sugar but mostly agave nectar to sweeten. most of their goods are soy free and SO EXTREMLY DELICIOUS!!!
the shop itself is adorable cute. there are not that much seats, but if you grab one you definitley will want to stay there for a long time.

an organic bakery owned by a punkrock couple with an assured sense of style!

the interior is pretty (cupcake tables!) as well as their baked goods are! there's a huuuge range of cupcakes, like chay and margerita, also a few vegan ones, and from time to time they expericene with fancy flavours (like wasabi...). the ones i tasted were a not so cupcake-y -a little bit too grainy, but i can't say something about their other pastry (amazing cakes and stuff). i hope they're better.

but i defintly would stop by very often (if i lived in chicago), alone for the charme this place has.

run by a incredibly awesome collective of activists, with the help of a lot of lovely volunteers (i totally would be one if i lived in ny!).

they carry a wide range of books on topics like queer- & gender studies, political theory, radical politics, crafting and cooking, global capitalism, diy, feminism, police and prisons, history, democracy studies, and black liberation, alternative parenting ... as well as children's books, magazines & zines, comics, alternative menstrual products, t-shirts and everything you need for your radical lifestyle.

also they host events like readings, workshops, performances almost every night (!), so check out their event calender on the website.

besides that, bluestockings is also a fair trade cafe, you can have a coffee or tea (made by the sweetest staff ever) and vegan sweets while sitting in a cosy chair and thumbing through a book that might help you changing the (or at least your) world.

ein sehr komisches aber. die atmospaehre ist sehr "loungig", die einrichtung furchtbar pseudobarock, die leute sind komisch unsympathisch und kommen in erster linie zum cocktail trinken. dafuer gibts nur vegetarisches essen, manche gerichte sind vegan, manche koennen optional veganisiert werden, scheint aber, als haetten die kellner*innen nicht wirklich ahnung, was das eigentlich ist. :( gut ist das essen (mexican-fusion-blah) trotzdem.

ahja, und dass schrecklich viel geraucht wird, traegt auch nicht gerade zur gemuetlichkeit bei.

actually it was kind of a weirdo place in the middle of a dancing school (?)... they prepare superspecial rawfood drinks made of superspecial powders and essences and offer one kind of a rawfood fruit cake.
the counter next to this one is the bistro of the dancing school, you can get toast with cheese and ham there...
