I always liked the Prückel because of its beautiful 50s interior.
Unfortunately they decided to ban 'Augustin' vendors. (Augustin = Viennese street paper). Not a nice move.

I have very ambivalent feelings about the Chelsea.
On one hand, there are great concerts. Excellent concerts, if you are lucky. On the other hand, the Chelsea doesn't work as a live music venue in case a show is sold out. If you get there a bit later than everyone else or if you are a person who doesn't enjoy being squeezed in the crowd, you have to basically watch the show from another room. This means you can only see the band through a doorway arch or on the screens that are placed beside the arch.
I absolutely avoid the Chelsea on weekends - it gets WAY too crowded, the bouncers tend to get too nervous and the djs try to please the very mixed crowd(=good thing!) with - in my opinion - quite boring mainstream-indie-rock. Also, on Fridays and Saturdays the Chelsea turns into a giant pick-up zone. (Of course, if you are fine with that, good for you.)
During the week the Chelsea is definitely a place to enjoy a chat over a glass of beer. In summer you can also escape the crowd - there are plenty of chairs to sit outside.

The Kitchenette is a tiny but wonderful cafe at the otherwise not-so-attractive Harras-junction.
If you ever try out their delicious cakes (my favourites: death by chocolate & pink lady) you will definitely forget about the cars rushing by close to you. Also, they serve great breakfast with self made chutneys, fresh fruits and more.

The Lücke is without any doubt the most likeable bar in town.
It' is located in the city center, a bit off the beaten nightlife track. It's a great place if you want to have a relaxed chat over a glass of beer or a (big!) cup of tea. The crowd is very mixed (especially when it comes to age) and a bit on the 'alternative' side. The interior is dark but cosy, and you hear a lot of 60s and 70s tunes during a regular night at the Lücke. And if you ever run out of conversation, you can try out some of the board games.

A nice little Japanese Restaurant close to the Spittelberg.
They serve very tasty starters, and the sushi is pretty decent too. Also, the service is very friendly.

A nice little restaurant/takeaway serving quiches, tartes, crepes and some other small french dishes and snacks, like a very nice pain au chocolat.
The staff is very friendly, the interior is simple but welcoming. After trying a tarte aux fruits (which was made with tanned tangerines, i think) at the partner-restaurant Sapa, i got hooked (despite the probably tinned tangerines). I can also recommend their leek quiches served with salad - delicious, even better than the tartes. The crepes are not too sweet, just the way I like it.
Unfortunately everything is a bit too pricey.
