bok is great.
they offer lunch boxes, the vegetarian maki one is delicious. it comes with salad, slices of orange, miso soup and LOTS of different veggie makis, which is amazing for only 5,50. you usually get free tea while watching your lunch box being made. the place is small, clean and simple and the staff is very friendly. highly recommended.

friendly house is a stlish store offering you anything you could ever need when you're a DJ or record music.
the staff is mostly quite young, very friendly and helpful and seems to know everything when it comes to sound technology. what bothered me a bit is the loud music, it's not that easy to follow someone's explanations about microphones that way, but maybe that's just me. the prices are nice, most things are a bit cheaper than at other places.

delicious food, great interior.
i wish this was a litte bit more central though, so i could go there more often.

the all-you-can-eat running sushi ain't cheap, but it tastes alright.
sometimes the food on the conveyor belt looks is though it's been running in circles for the whole day already (especially the warm seafood dishes), but sushi and maki are pretty good, so are the desserts. staff is friendly. overall an alright place.

i recently went there looking for a present for a newborn.
just looking at stuff there makes you want to have a) a lot of money and b) a dozen newborns to get presents for. lacking a), i had to leave without having bought something, but i definitely recommend it to anyone looking for beautiful and cute kid's stuff in simple (mostly unisex!) designs.

alright, this ain't a shop, it's actually a hairdresser.
i had been looking for a really good hairdresser with low prices for ages and it seems i've finally found it. hohoff hair doesn't neccessarily look as stylish as places like youngstyle and it doesn't have their gogo dancers and techno music either. it looks clean and simple and they've got an offer for students for 20 euros which includes a hair analysis, washing, cutting and finish. they tell you what sort of hair you've got and what's the best way to keep it healthy. the cute young hairdresser who gave me my haircut wasn't just extremely nice but also very good.
definitely a recommendation.

serving speed was actually quite slow, but we weren't in a hurry and enjoyed sitting in the schanigarten (and later inside when it started to rain) a lot. food was exceptionally good, i loved every bit of it. definitely a recommendation!

jux witte has got everything you might need for the next costume party.
it offers a wide range of products, including masks, fake blood, fake diamond jewellery, wigs, whopee cushions and, depending on the season, halloween/santa clause/angel/clown costumes.
amazing place just to stroll around and look at everything or try everything on...
at least for me, it's impossible to go there without buying anything.

great store for music instruments and all sorts of equipment, very well assorted.
the staff always seems to be very nice and helpful, eager to look through all of their stuff to find that one special thing you'd like to see. the prices are alright, generally a bit cheaper than in most other places in town. i highly recommend it.

i like the minimalistic but still somehow cosy look of neni.
staff was exceptionally friendly and you can get breakfast until 2pm. the menu sounds very yummy and a little exotic and maybe i expected a little too much from it, but no matter what we got the two times i've been there, i was always a little disappointed. food was good, but i found the servings a bit too small for the price. when the menu says "homemade chream cheese with olives and bread" you get a tiny plate full of cream cheese, four tiny olives and (good) bread which comes in very small servings, so prepare always having to order extra bread.
it's okay, food is good but i would have expected something a little more interesting for the price.

my favourite pizza in vienna.
i haven't stayed in the restaurant itself longer than the 15 minutes it takes to get some takeaway pizza and i haven't tasted their other dishes either, but the pizza is just delicious. it's not as greasy as at most other places and the toppings at least look pretty fresh.
the place itself is small and old-fashioned, all over-decorated with fishing nets and preserved saltwater fishes. it's very clean, though, and the staff is very friendly. they're open on sundays, so when the weater is fine, grab a pizza and eat it on a bench in the augarten.

restaurant sperl in the fourth district, just five minutes from the suedbahnhof is a very traditional austrian restaurant with wooden paneling, the smell of schnitzel in the air and very polite waiters.
what you can get here are mostly austrian (and mostly non-vegetarian) dishes, mid-price but a little above the average in taste, i would say. they also have a nice selection of very good wines.
there is a non-smoking area, a very nice schanigarten and the whole place is very clean and cosy. a lot of frequenters from the area go there. unfortunately your clothes tend to have this gasthaus-smell once you get out again but it's worth it most of the time.

very nice, likeable and tiny place right at u1 taubstummengasse.
the staff was very friendly and the food delicious. very good sushi.
another plus: they have a delivery service (sundays, too), which was very fast and friendly the last time i ordered food there.
yummy!

the shop at the karmelitermarkt is practically the small version of the huge, bizarre, chaotic but wonderful textil müller in kritzendorf outside vienna.
what you can find here is everything you need for sewing your own clothes, bags, curtains, stuffed animals etc.
from different sorts of fabric to buttons, ribbons and zips, everything is really low-price (drapery starting around 2 euros per meter). you cannot always expect to find exactly what you wanted but be sure to find other things you never knew you needed.
if you're nice, expect to find a bottle of wine of a box of chocolates in your shopping bag around new year's day.
