Indeed (to Ralf D.
), don't forget to mention it's pay as you can/wish, from €3 to €7

One of my favourite small cafés/bars.
Nice jazzish/loungeish music, never overcrowded because it only fits a very limited amount of people.

Excellent restaurant, with gallery and a small venue attached to it.

The most tastey hot chocolate you've ever had, that feels like you're drinking silk, comes with the option of adding various spices (chili and ginger being one, forgot the others).
Priced at almost €5 it's still worth getting. Never tried the coffee ;)
Of the small dishes the scrambled eggs really stood out, never knew you can make something that simple taste that great.

Bought my (refurbished and very reasonable priced) bike there, which works like a charm, friendly personnel, definitely worth a look if you're looking for a bike

A quite small bookstore which carries mostly novels (thriller, science-fiction, horror, etc), but Walter, the owner, is happy to order anything you want.
He also carries mostly "strange" records (KK Null, Death in June, Der Blutharsch, Fennesz, ESG, The Hafler Trio, Z'Ev, Zoviet France, Nurse with Wound, Gescom, Angels of Light, Swans, Coil) and plays it to you on request.
He's very good at guessing what you'd like once you bought a few books or records there, as it often goes with small businesses :)

One of the best sounding venues for classical music, supposedly in the whole world.
You can still feel the warmth of the sound at the standing places in the back (which are priced around €5), even if there's an extremely calm part.
Sadly, the pieces performed often don't fit my taste, could use more contemporary classical music.

Recently turned into a non-smoker café, due to the books.
Breakfast is 'till 17:00.
Possibly the only café in Vienna that plays Sigur Rós, Boards of Canada and Trentemöller.

There's so many great things about this, not only the incredible price for a pizza this large, but also the broken stereo which sometimes plays a trance remix of "Insomnia" over and over again, or the waiters with a very odd sense of humour.
Reservation for the evening is recommended, it's usually packed as soon as it gets warmer outside.

Rather western-style Indian restaurant, for people not overly fond of overly hot (as in spicey) food.
There's bollywood music videos rotating all the time.
I went there every week when I lived in Berlin, the owner is very very nice and cute, as he's sometimes really really slow (as in relaxed) and also mixed up my orders a few time ;) But it was fine, as, seriously, everything I tried there was great.
Malai Kofta, oh dear, I miss the Malai Kofta.

Expensive, but generally good selection.
They don't act weird in case you're blind and can't find what you're looking for on your own ;)

Good location, even if a little bit off the map compared to most other locations.
Haven't ever seen a bad concert there.
It's even bearable when it's sold out.

Coffee that gives you stomach-ache, mostly bad local punk-kids performing, all in all, don't go there.
I gotta know, I live in the same house :P

For those addicted to a more contemporary classical music, with the likes of Iannis Xenakis, György Ligeti, Olivier Messiaen, every once in a while (and also sometimes more often) you will find some perls here.

My favourite club, anywhere.
Everything from cute unknown-pop acts like Vanishing Breed to Jason Forrest Trance Raves and Dark Ambient nights with The Reformed Faction of Soviet France.
I really miss it a lot :'(
