it has become one of my saturday rituals to stop by Drechsler for a Melange with soy milk.

the waiters are friendly enough, the coffee is good and watching the trendy folks on naschmarkt is always a pleasure.
cannot beat the opening hours!

Used to be one of my favorite spots during my late time at the technical university with amazing "Cremespinat" (spinache with sour cream) and the unique old Mr.

Drechsler (how old has he been, 90 or something?). I was quite worried when it got closed out of the blue some years ago, but contrary to some other Kaffeehaus-renovation projects (Café Museum...) it turned out quite nicely with very relaxed atmosphere, good music and an unintrusive but stylish decor. Of course it doesn't have the neat fucked-up atmosphere (and I think neither the Cremespinat) of the old one, but it turned into a fine place to get a coffee (or spend night hours).

The crowd is definitely very BoBo, so if you get annoyed by that maybe you should avoid that place.

Prices are average, coffee is good, tea even better and the food is ok.

the Drechsler has probably the best opening hours in town (they have just closed from 2 to 3 in the morning).

it's especially nice to listen to sunny side up music on sunday afternoon.

The Drechsler has been my favorite for 8 years.

Since they renovated the atmosphere has changed and it´s one of the cafes that thinks DJs and cafes do mix. Why? I don´t know. I just want to relax, think and talk. Use a playlist for gods sake and lower the volume.

Still, you should go there. It´s a nice cafe and the new atmosphere isn´t that bad. I love the little room in the back - it also dims the sound a little.

"Since they renovated i don´t the atmosphere has changed" ??
thanks

sorry, but AT FIRST SIGHT the best thing after the recent renovation is the new toilet compared to the old ones....

sure the NEW drechlser it looks nice and 'trendy'.. but heh.... somehow I'm missing retired mr. Drechsler and the REAL 24/7 opening flair.
nevertheless... sure a nice place to go

Offering great coffee, free wifi, air conditioning and amazing opening hours (23 hours a day!

) which remind me of the great all night coffee dives in the US, the Drechsler is still a great coffee house after its recent renovation.

With a much younger clientèle (we saw at least 4 'bobo' families, one even carrying a Polaroid sx-70, helloooo trendy!), a fashionable interior and it's vicinity to Naschmarkt, it's perfect for a quick visit during your shopping day or to take a seat and finish writing that novel you've always thought of publishing.

simply the best place to have a cup of coffee before you start your "naschmarkt" journey.

I really liked the old Drechsler, and while I think it's a good thing to not let something like that just die, I'm not a huge fan of the redecoration.

The food is alright, but for someone like me, portions are a bit small. And they only have small beers.

The Drechsler is a legend in the Vienna coffee house scene.

Its future seemed in doubt following the retirement of its long-time operator, but after a lengthy closure and re-design by Terence Conran it has once again opened its doors. While something has been lost in its translation to *wallpaper-dom, it's still unpretentious, the food (nicely presented traditional fare) has improved and it opens 23 hours a day!
