Centimeter III Reviews (10)
I like it here - but not to eat.
As most people have reported, this is NOT a great (or even good) place to eat. However, why would you go to a place like this and expect a gourmet meal??? Other than a snack to be washed down with your 6th beer, there is no sane reason to eat here.
BUT!! I really like having a beer here. I can see that it is not for everyone. It kind of reminds me of a fraternity bar room setting. Now, if you're like me and you have fond memories of the fraternity bar room (gosh, I miss those days!) then you'll love it here. Yes, some of the young women who work here are not the sharpest tool in the shed, but so what? If you like a relaxed, low key place to have a beer and pretend you're still in college, this place is great!
I especially like sitting on the terrace. From there you get a great view of the neighborhood and you can watch the trolleys glide by. To me, this is a very comforting, relaxing place to sit and sip. I will definitely go back - but only for a few beers.
Say whatever you want, but i like the Centimeter.
Super-big "Wiener Schnitzel" and the best beer on this planet aka Bavarian beer. Also they are low-priced and the service is mostly friendly and fast - if you don´t sit way back, cause they don´t look around much.
If you are a tourist and want to try a schnitzel and beer - go to the Centimeter, rather than on of the overpriced tourist rip-offs.
Since Centimeter = Centimeter i post the same review to all of them ;-)
What used to be a truly old-school Kaffeehaus is unfortunately still part of that execrable chain of low-cost, low-quality restaurants that are defacing the city.
Why these are mentioned in pretty much all the guidebooks is beyond me. Anyways, if you want a true slice of Viennese Gasthaus life, go across the street to Wickerl.
Maybe it is just me and I made a bad decision in ordering, but I didn't like their food.
Their ambience isn't that cool either, so maybe there is another typical Austrian restaurant you want to go...
Horrendous.
Inedible food, bad music, slow dopey staff and an interior that smells like a tramp's trousers. Any restaurant that serves its specialities in greasy shovels and wheelbarrows (sadly not a joke) can't be taken seriously. To make matters worse it is taking up a great sunny location on Porzellangasse.
Centimeter is what pubs will be like in hell.
Concept is nice - they sell sandwiches by size.
The service was good but the food was terrible - stale bread, and the goulash was very greasy. Wouldn't go back.
definetly the worst of the seven "Centimeter" franchises in vienna - speaking about those i tried so far.
the beer is good - but the food is rather cheap, as in every Centimeter, but here they let you taste the difference. Cold food, wrong food (sometimes what you ordered was just not what you got), you can have it all.
But you get big servings, and the price is absolutely reasonable.
if you ever go there, try the chicken wings (those actually really are good) or the huge salad (we're talkin' 13 inch plate filled to the top here).
But as long as you can choose: just don't go in there in the first place.
EDIT: oh damn, i totally forgot to mention the music :D
this is like serious(ly) shi*t. it seems there are 5 different Centimeter-mix-CD's, featuring the worst music of the last 3 decades, like scooter, followed by "poison" (alice cooper), followed by the bacardi song, followed by eiffel 65, the whole "room 101" playlist. now, only 20-24 songs fit on a CD, so after like 74 minutes the horror starts again.
