Curry-Insel Reviews (14)
Mhhhhhhhhhhh!
I wonder why 'no one' has told me about this place before :(
Very tasty food and friendly service. Prices are also good. Reservation is recommended.
Try the "Limited Meal" from Tue-Fri for lunch.
Limited meal means that there are only certain dishes available, but of these as much as you like. You can choose, if you want a vegan, a vegetarian or a mixed (with meat) plate. When you are finished, you will be asked, if you want more. As long as there is enough food, you can have more. :) I also recommend the Masala tea. Dulika, the waitress, is a very nice young woman. Don't be too impatient when she doesn't appear at your table immediately, but the place is quite big and she mostly is the only waitress (apart from a guy who serves drinks).
Great Sri Lankan food.
Idli, Hoppers, and rice served with sambar and all kinds of curries. As an added bonus, you can order the dishes "originalscharf", i.e. as hot as in Sri Lanka. Definitely recommended to all capsaizine junkies like myself.
great curries and dhals, a big range of side orders, nice and friendly stuff.
One of my favourite indian/sri lankan food restaurant in Vienna.
Excellent Sri Lankan curry house.
Reservation needed at weekends. The best thing to do is to buy 4-5 of the little curries, dahls etc. and combine with an assortment of sides like the hoppers and thosai. For chilli-addicts, a couple of the chutneys are pretty hot and a little bowl of the sambal will add heat to anything.
Quality seems to have declined a little in the last year but still great.
I agree with pretty much everything - especially with the comment that it really deserves more than 3 stars (in my very humble opinion).
The non-smoking back room actually felt like it even though people were smoking in the front room.
I've only been here twice, but the food was great, and the ambiance and service were good too.
It feels quite unlike other restaurants in Vienna.
For years I thought it was a Wurstlstand somehow (Currywurst... Verkehrsinsel... Curry Insel...)
Great curryhouse featuring specialties from Sri Lanka.
One of the few spots in Vienna to grab a curry with some real kick to it. In fact, one of the choices for spiciness on their menu is simply a picture of an ambulance, so I think you can guess they mean business when it comes to . Lots of vegetarian and vegan options too.
