The Donau Techno was the first Club I came to Vienna.
I fell in love instantly.
WHENEVER I can, I am there. To hang out - and party.
The DJ lineup is just awesome.
Whoever's gotta name in Vienna's techno szene is happy to present his/her sets there. Barkeepers superfriendly and great drinks.
The Donau is noncommercial underground at its best.
Special thanks to Donaupeter and his fellas, the team & secutities and Box Karl.
And for serving " Der Drink ". Haven't had a hangover since you listed it. =)
Keep on
Yes it looks nice, yes the music is good, but it's not a "bar", it's a hangout at best.
If you like unfriendly bartenders and just love to wait 15 minutes and up for a drink, this place is for you. Also I would argue that a "bar" defines itself by the quality of the drinks served, so this is not the place to go.
I live in the same street, but I have learned to avoid this place at all costs...sad, I would love to love it!
For added entertainment look at the fancy things hanging from the ceiling, I doubt you've seen more filth sticking to your mudflaps...gross! No wonder they need fancy projections to cover it up.
Donau Techno my favorite Bar in Vienna.
Constatly playing Techno (not loud, just for atmosphere).
Good Cocktails, nice People, and the atmosphere (architection, decoration, visuals) are awesome! You just have to see it.
I've only recently been here after hearing about it for a while, and I'm very impressed.
The atmosphere is simply awesome: the architecture together with the wall projections really turn it into a surreal place. This has the potential to become one of my favorite spots in Vienna.
I like this spot a lot.
This bar looks like no other place I know as if stage designers from Blade Runner left it there, but wherever you look for the back of the stage, it can't be found - it's all front.
The Donau Bar hasn't changed since my first visit about 15 years ago. I guess this is one of the places that can't be changed but only destroyed.
It's hip, but as it seems not in a overrun Bobo-way as the whole see-and-be-seen game doesn't really work in that lighting situation.
Drinks and prices are ok, but mostly not awesome.
Donau is one of the more relaxed locations in Vienna.
This once-synagogue turned chill-out lounge is rather hard to find, ie. there are no signs, ads or an obvious entrance. I stumbled on it by opening the wrong door one night, pulling back a curtain and there was a huge gothic room with vaulted ceilings, DJs, and a bar. Not too over-priced, comfortable, relaxed/dimmed lighting and cool visuals.
