Been there
Formosa Food Reviews (7)
they added a new sitting area, so there is more room now ;-)
the x-mas dishes they had/have(?) where really great: mhmm Gansl...the vegan cheeses and the tramezzini sandwich (my sister and I both adore it)....but: the service is sometimes is (a bit) slow, especially when lots of other costumers are around. but always friendly!
Friendly staff, great products.
I don't like fake meat but you can also get Tofu with vegetables and rice for 5.90€.
I love their ice-cream and vegan cookies.
During Faschings-Zeit you can also get vegan Faschingskrapfen there :) (2 for 2.50€)

the fake meat takes some getting used to, but yeah their ice cream is great (but will be gone in a few weeks until next summer!)27. Sep 2009
Well I don't like the taste of meat, so I don't like the fake meat.. I believe Eis am Schwedenplatz is opened all year?16. Oct 2009
Unfortunately Schwedenplatz is open all year, but their vegan ice is only avail during spring and summer :(good food but a bit too small, been there twice and never found a place to sit
Hot damn, a Formosa cafe in Vienna is a dream come true.
Formosa being the distributor of all the fine mock meats that every other vegan/vegetarian restaurant uses in their meals. The meals are all extremely hearty, full of fake meat, rice and salad, with a side of warm spiced soy milk included! They have a different soup almost everyday, this visit of mine being one of the best damn pumpking and mushroom soups I've ever had.
The service is attentive *almost* to the point of being over-bearing, but not quite reaching that point.
Prices are insanely affordable and it's hard to sit next to their fridges full of mock meats without taking home a few packages of whatever was just in the meal they served you.
The cafe area is smaller, with seating for 8, so if you are in a group of 3 or more, call ahead and reserve the big table.
Oh, not on the menu, but ask if they can make you a mixed plate, it's full of different mock meats and rice for 6.80 EUR and well worth it if they feel like making it for you.
all the vegetarian/vegan mock meat you can think of and finally in a great location, too!
tofutti cream cheese, sheese, vegan cookies, flapjacks (my favourites are banana and coconut), soy sauce, chocolate, and they even serve warm food and home made warm soy milk.
the ladies working there are great, give you good advice and are just overwhelmingly friendly. a great addition to my neighbourhood.
A second unit that is located more centrally in addition to the HQ of Formosa Food at Zirkusgasse.
This place is great, you get lots of vegetarian and vegan fake meats like chicken and ham, you get scheese and tofutti cream cheese, you get sweeties, and you can even get a snack there, as its a shop/restaurant.
More suggestions for you

Akakiko
Mariahilfer Straße 40There was a band-aid in my plate of noodles! The funniest part is that they made us pay for the other things we ordered (drinks + starters)... Shame on you, Akakiko! -
