Delicious fresh salads and the biggest fluffiest quiche I have ever seen!
Slightly expensive.
Nice bright interior (lotsa daylight), perfect for a hot summer day.

Great coffee, baked goodies, and light meals (organic and veggie-friendly) served by friendly cute waitresses with artsy stuff on the wall in a diner atmosphere.

Byways Cafe - (5/5)

I came here on a recommendation from a coworker and loved it! It's a 1950's style diner adorned with collectibles from all 50 states like plates, spoons, snowglobes, etc. I had the cornbeef hash and it's probably the best I've had in Portland. The service is great, the setting is very comfortable, and the service is quite prompt. I recommend it to everyone looking for breakfast in the Pearl.

Tiny's Coffee - (3/5)

The coffee is above-average, and the sandwiches and panini (served with pepperoncini on the side) are especially good. But Tiny's loses some points for lacking decor. They recently renovated both the SE and NE locations, the SE renovation being a bit more extensive, but with neglible improvements to overall experience. At least the couches returned to SE after a couple of weeks, as without them it seemed that seating was cut in half after opening up the space. The seating and chair combinations at both locations feel strangely disproportionate, as in table-height-to-seat-height awkwardness.

It may not mean anything, but the past two times I ordered food here, they got my order wrong. But they usually play good music and the back patio is lovely in mild weather.
