Awesome little bar serving the finest belgian and specialty beers. No corporate brands. Do not ask for a Miller or Bud, or you may get banned from the establishment. I believe they also a selection of wines, plus they have an awesome cheese platter. But it is all about the beer.

Ichiban Kan - (3/5)

This is a neat one-dollar store located in Japantown/Japan Center with a nice selection of useful junk cheaply priced. You'll a nice selection of snacks and instant ramen, kitchen stuff, gardening stuff, desk supplies, bathroom stuff, lunch boxes, and even tools, at very reasonable prices. I must confess, this store has saved my ass several times when shopping for birthday presents at the last minute.

El Farolito - (5/5)

I love this joint and I'm truly addicted to their food. In my opinion, they have the best tacos in town, and their "quesadillas suizas suprema," with a nice charbroiled steak, cheese, avocados and salsa, is to die for. They also have an assortment of dishes and meats to choose from, along with fresh juices, or "aguas," and beers.
It's a small little place and would probably seat about 30 people in their main dinning area. Definitely not a fancy restaurant. They also open late on weekends, like the majority of Mexican joints on Mission street, and there's always a long line after hours.

Osha Thai Noodle Cafe - (4/5)

Osha.... great Thai food restaurant, with really great prices. They also open pretty late on weekends to accommodate the late crowd coming out of bars and clubs around the area. My favorite is their Pad See Ew (I hope I'm spelling it right...), and their fried banana and coconut ice cream is dee-lish.

Balboa Theater - (5/5)

Best movie deal in town. Balboa Theater offers a wide selection of independent, foreign, and Hollywood cinema with the occasional documentary. They are also known for their 2 for the price of one double features; you do get the occasional single feature, but for the most part the double feature is standard. And at $8.50 for general admission, it's a steal compared to major chain cinemas.

This small neighborhood theater houses two medium size auditoriums and what I would call a standard sound system. Nothing fancy or hi-tech. Do not expect THX in here. They have the best pop corn in town though.
