National Mechanics - (5/5)

Low pro, good food and a great beer selection. The crowd isn't really the old city crowd either, which is a big plus. The only problem is the saturday night dj sucks. If you're into top 40 hip-hop, go sat. night. If you're into arcade fire, the clash, man man, etc, go any other night of the week.

Ok, slight edit. The Saturday DJ has gotten bumped to every other week. So now its hit and miss saturday night. The 28th, however, is gonig ot be nuts. Circus/costume party and dj's spinning idm all night. Looks like a serious throwdown.

Fuji Mountain - (4/5)

Fuji has great sushi and a very cool ambiance. They have rotating art installations on the walls and throughout the dining area and bar. They also have an outstanding saki menu. The service can be a little iffy sometimes.

Julia Bakery - (5/5)

Best. Bakery. Ever.
Hands down, it does not get better than this place. Sweet Polish grandmother type making the best confections imaginable. Ugh. Go and get the rurka. (sp?) Freshly made cannoli type things stuffed with sweet cream. She says she is the only authentic maker of them this side of the Atlantic.

green line cafe - (3/5)

The coffee is good. The scene is a bit pretentious and the service is quite horrendous. Nothing against the people, it just seems that nobody has ever worked in a cafe before, and it shows.

world cafe live - (4/5)

The World Cafe Live is one of the coolest venues in the city. Big enough for midsize acts and the upstairs bar plays local and small-time acts. Food is ok and pricey, as are the drinks, but the low ticket prices and great acts more than make up for it.
