the 3rd-best falafel in town in my opinion but still really good. it sometimes disturbs me a little bit that you smell like a schnitzel after you sat insode their restaurant but i still go there from time to time mainly because of this most awesome lime juice drink they offer.

really good, very plumply filled falafel-pita sandwich for a fair price.
if you don't want to smell like a falafel yourself, try to get a seat outside. ;) and you should have some time, the waiter was a little lame.

Die Falafel sind super und die hausgemachte Minze-Zitronen-Limonade könnt ich kübelweise bestellen (hint, hint ;)), aber das Lokal selbst ist ungemütlich und der Service jenseitig...
Meine Bitte, einen Salat der vegetarischen Platte gegen einen anderen (exakt gleicher Preis!) auszutauschen, brachte den Kellner augenscheinlich ans Limit. Er werde versuchen, den Koch zu fragen (vor dem er offenbar Angst hatte :)), aber das werde sicher nicht gehen.
Er sollte recht behalten...ts ts ts

I love the falafel sandwich (my favorite in Vienna so far) which I also don't find expensive. I don't bother with the less than ideal service and take the sandwich to go.

great food, nice people, a bit pricey but very nice.

kind of pricey but the falafels are very very good.

I'd give their falafel five stars (as far as falafel goes in Vienna) but their service would get one star; so that averages to three stars, right?

It's only been a rare occaision that I've been there and their wait staff didn't need a serious attitude adjustment. I bear their less-than-ideal service only because the food is good.

ich find das lokal ja ganz nett, obwohl ich gestehen muss, dass ich noch nie was dort gegessen habe. meine freundin hat mal magenschmerzen von diesem komischen grünen saft bekommen... und irgendwie... ich weiß nicht... habe ich angst vor dem essen... soviel grünzeug... menschen, die kein fleisch mögen, werden sich dort also sehr wohl fühlen.

was ich am maschu hasse, ist, dass man relativ schnell hinausgeschmissen wird, wenn man nicht ein cola nach dem anderen trinkt oder permanent irgendetwas nahrungsmäßiges kaut. eat and get out!!!

es gibt restaurants, in denen riecht es extrem nach essen, was sich dann auf das gewand 1:1 übertragt - das maschu ist eines von diesen. in anbetracht dessen, dass ich am nächsten tag nicht wie eine falafel riechen will und die waschmaschienen im studentenheim einem nicht 24 stunden am tag zur verfügung stehen, ein weiterer minuspunkt. vielleicht bin ich da aber auch etwas überempfindlich...

praktisch ist, dass es dort auch die falafel-to-go gibt: wer also, so wie ich ein steak will, der kann seine/seinen nicht-fleisch-essende/n freund/in dort schnell versorgen und anschließend in das steakhaus seiner wahl gehen! böse, aber wahr!

habe zwischenzeitlich doch einmal eine falafel gekostet... verdammt, ist das gut!!!

Maschu is now offering mega-quick takeout service at their neighboring hole-in-the-wall carryout counter. Since Yasin Falafel has closed, Maschu is again the best choice for falafel. If you're acquainted with pita style sandwiches like Maoz in Amsterdam, then you'll enjoy Maschu. They have a fairly lengthy menu including stir-fry veggies with tofu, an amazing lentil soup and various meat dishes.

Maschu is famous in Vienna for it's takeaway falafel sandwich. Maschu stuffs their falafel sandwiches full of tahini, falafel, veggies (including kraut) and various sauces, all for less than 3,50 EUR each. They have quite a few vegetarian and vegan options in addition to their falafel sandwich (try their hummus!) and their prices are pretty reasonable (but getting higher every 6 months it seems).

Their service is a bit lacking sometimes, so if it looks busy and you actually want some service, it's probably better for you to turn around and head somewhere else
