After years of walking back and forth through the first district, I somehow completely ignored the existence of Sababa.
Delivering a delicious plate of hummus, tahini and falafel for less than 5 EUR, which *almost* fits into the lunch budget of a web 2.0 startup founder.
The owner oversees the restaurant activity, which seems to keep the service to an acceptable level and there's no better way to fulfill your people-watching need than by sitting right smack-dab in the middle of everyone's way on the sidewalk.

If there is a place in Vienna where to get a fine Falafel Pita then it's Sababa at Rotenturmstraße!
Highly recommended!
This used to be a Haaegen-Dasz, now it's an Israeli restaurant. I still don't know how I feel about losing the Haaegen-Dasz :P, but it's a good place to get Israeli food. It looks a bit like a kebab place at first glance, but it isn't. The cook puts a lot of effort into this food, and serves vegan food as well (as in falafel).
