Teuchtler Schallplattenhand...
Windmühlgasse 10
1060 Vienna
this place is every music-lovers wet dream. it seems there is nothing this place doesn't have, every absurd genre can be found. armenian hip-hop? you'll probably find it or something really similar after hours of digging.
this place is not huge, so be prepared to rub bellies with sweaty men looking for that last rare recording to finish their collection. the atmosphere is great, people are friendly nerds, there's the random semi-famous DJ digging for old soul and funk records, there's old, young, punk, classical fan and everything in between.
my favourite spot is the little hidden corner w/ film soundtracks and musicals where i will forever dig around for recordings of Jesus Christ Superstar.
the family running this place knows their shit and answers your questions no matter how specific.
i don't think i have ever paid the full price there, so that's a lovely little extra.
great place, i know my non-existant grand-kids would buy their records at teuchtler, too.
simply the best record store in town. great blues & jazz sortiment
I love that shop too. Friendly people. Close to the place I work. They stock enormous amounts of vinyl and cds. They are quite fair about prices and always charge less than what the price tag says.
An intense experience for any used records fan. The store is family-run and everyone working there are extremely friendly, even to young punks looking for Sex Pistols on vinyl (note: not me).
There is vinyl all over the place from the floor up the walls, but a word of warning, those with allergies, either wear a mask, take your allergy medication, or prepare to suffer from the dust. 5 seconds in here and your eyes begin to water and skin begins to itch. But that shouldn't keep you from visiting one of Vienna's finest used record shops.
best record shop in vienna for 'diggin' the crates'. it was opened by the teuchtler family in 1948 and so of course you find everything from shellacs to jazz, from beatles original pressings to brand new promo copies from djs. it s vienna s vinylheaven in a way because they have tons and tons of unorganized records everywhere so you better bring enough time to find your way through. but in the end i promise you ll leave the shop with some hard to find darlings for a really fair price and the feeling of being a modern age golddigger. of course they have cds as well...
