Great food, with a nice selection of vegan items. Unfortunately we got into a HUGE fight with the waiter. First most of the items on the Tagesmenu (which is very nice and relatively cheap at 3 courses for e9.50) were out of stock at 19:00.... The waiter got exasperated like it was our fault for ordering them and yelled at us. He then slammed his book down and walked away saying he had no time to answer questions when I asked about the risotto. I had to go ask the cook, who was great.

Every dish exceeded expectations, because after that ours were so low.... I got lovely chanterelle risotto and a nice vegan Linzerauge. Hopefully the waiter moves on to a career he is better suited to, and this place can be the delight it might be.

Organic food only, fair-trade everything, wooden (presumably handmade) furniture, absolutely no smoking, usually exclusively vegetarian menus, every meal also availible as a children's portion, a community pinboard, political discussion in the menu (This month: Burma, the Holocaust, and deportation practices), local art on the walls and an extra room for rent to yoga groups and citizen initiatives: Every cliche in the book comes true at this fiercely indie organic restaurant hidden away in a quiet side street near Schottentor. So put on your Birkenstocks and enjoy its honest charm and affordable, delicious, healthy food.
