I love Kolar and have been going there since 1991!

Don't expect much: Czech Budweiser on tap, house brand brews, full bar and flat breads with various toppings cooked in a wood-fired oven.

The setting is in one of the oldest buildings in Wien in one of the most charming old streets. They have a small outdoor area for enjoying yourself but they close it relatively early out of respect for the neighbors.

Kolar is worth a visit for a refresher when you're in the neighborhood or even as a destination for a casual get-together with friends.

Warning: this place gets SMOKED OUT and has no nonsmoking area.

I like Kolar... at least it has a bit of character and atmosphere. The flatbreads are good too.

I find it amusing to see someone complain that there are too many people and it's a bit closed away and dark - I thought that was the point of this place! Personally I like crowds of people - quite unusual for Vienna, which can be quite empty.

A nice studenty place to go have a snack after seeing a movie at Artis. Massive selection of Fladenbroten, and they have Guinness, yum. Can be a bit smoky.

This is a good spot on a very old street. The room is almost catacomb like. The bar pumps out tons of good beer, and the flatbreads, cooked in a wood-fired oven, are perfect little snacks to fuel your next phase.
