A bit overpriced, but wonderful and probably well worth it. The selection isn't huge, but what you can find there is so obscure, I can't think of anywhere else you might find such beauties in the city. And even though it appears as if they don't have a lot in stock, they will gladly special order something for you if they don't have it. Not a wide variety of vinyl, but a good enough selection particularly of local Bay Area bands. For those that want a wide selection and instant gratification, you know where you need to go. Clue: Haight St and an old bowling alley. If you are outside of SF satisfy your cravings and get your fix online too!

And dont forget: if you are a local make sure you keep abreast of the infrequent and impromptu instores. I once (with maybe less than 50 other people crammed in there) caught Jonathan Richman playing a sweet sunday afternoon! Killer!

If you're not going to get your haircut here, I strongly suggest not getting it cut anywhere in Vienna. The best of the best. They actually know what they are doing. Hip and HELLA artistes. You'll leaving looking like the rock star you always were, but vastly improved. Some of you all may not like the prices. However, I am accustomed to spending over $100 to get my haircut in the states, and it was only 65 euros, and probably the best I've had in the last 5 years. So totally worth it. Make sure you ask for Philip, and tell him Amanda sent you. Multitask and get yr Freitag and hi-top cravings outta your system. Satisfaction guaranteed! TIP: Show off your luscious locks to cute, boys and girls across the street trolling for vinyl at Substance ** Yucky, dated late 90s-esque website, however.

Do you really think there are enough stars here to rate the best of the best? Back in 2001 when dot-commies were ruining my city there was talk of them (along with a good portion of artists, musicians and the like) being forced out to Oakland, as they could not afford the rent anymore. Well all i can say, thank you for January 2001, the month it all crashed, as BOTH hasn't budged an inch since. Any band who has made or is making any impact plays here. If you haven't played here, you haven't played San Francisco quite yet. My favourite thing about BOTH was the sunday afternoon BBQ! As far as I know it still goes on and is around $7, starts late afternoon, and gets you 3-4 bands and ze foods. Not 100% veggie friendly last time i checked -- you'll have to stick to corn-on-the-cob, potato salad and the like. Don't leave SF w/o seeing a band here. Show up any night of the week, doesn't matter, you'll be pleasantly suprised. Garden in the back will keep smokers sated - you won't technically have to leave the bar. The crowd here is generally quite mixed and laidback, its ALL about the rock.

OMF'n god! Only my favourite bar in Wien. Hands down. Not sceney, just recommended for die hard rock 'n rollers. Closest thing I've ever found appoaching a dive bar here. Only thing its missing is Mick and Keith, but you can improvise and use your imagination as you lose yourself in the walls plastered with with memorabilia from what i consider to be the best decade(s) ever. Good people, nice locals. Small but in only the best way. Could only be made better by a jukebox, but the bartender will keep you sated with an endless flurry of 60s and 70s rock n roll givens. That is until you stumble out the door, convinced, yes it could in fact, still be 1968. One can hope.

More than adequate for all your 35mm needs - i know this as my place of employment has a working relationship with them - however, do not, i repeat, do not bring any 120 here. Very poor for medium format. However if you must go, but need your images only available digitally, i suggest just having them develop and scan your own negs at home. I've had much better.

Best to hit this after a late late betrunken night at the lovely Attic on 24th across the street. Its nowhere as good as when you've got a slew of Michelle's vodka tonics in ya! Any other time however you've got to put your wallet through some pain and hit up La Taqueria or La Corneta all within a block of Farolito. Average.

Think 60s design, flight stewardesses (back when someone wouldn't hit you on the head for saying so), 2001: A Space Odyssey and then some. Culture/design junkies, jetsetters and all card-carrying members of the mile high club wouldn't THINK of leaving San Francisco without a 'quickie' here. Find yer Lomo Cameras, those must-haves for the departure lounge, and all other what-nots you forgot to pack. Gute Reise!

TIP: top off yer sojourn with a hop across the street and drinks at Place Pigalle.

Yr seitan haven! The spot to bring your parents to when they are visiting you and trick them into veganism. There is no way they'll ever suspect they aren't eating meat! You subversive devil, you.

I would venture to say this is the best SF venue, save for Bottom of the Hill. Lets just say its the best small venue for music in SF, then. Or your favourite Tendernob local. Whatever you like, darling. Fer ye smokers out there, due to some nifty lil design thinking, you can actually sit in a bar in SF and smoke (its a detached room you enter from inside the bar). And the best part? You're not charged a cover to enter the bar just to drink when there are shows! They collect your bucks at the back so no worries if you just need some Budweiser in you. The best jukebox in the city (Zeitgeist is the 2nd best) -- where else are you gonna find Kimya Dawson on a juke, the best nights of my life have been spent here...

good god, 5 stars? no 15 stars! i've had yet to experience an indian spot that i could stomach here. I was craving a curry last night, and ended up here blindly because of this review. anywhere that is as good as in England can't be missed, no? This has them all beat! I had the most amazing veggie Thali - you get naan, raita, rice, poppadom, 3 veggie dishes (one was the palak paneer, the other 2 i'm not sure)...Pretty good deal over all. I didn't leave there w/o spending 25 euros true, but i also had 2 glasses of wine and a nachspeise. Great ambience, candlelit, charming service. An A-Plus times a million.
