ein schwimmender club/pool/restaurantbereich am donaukanal. so ne einrichtung braucht heute wohl jedes kleine berlin.
sehr gut:

bahur tov which means good boy is one of the best falafel spots in town nobody knows about. the family owned and run restaurant is one of the meeting points for the jewish community in the second disctrict and their wide range of jewish traditional food also includes falafel sandwiches that are at least as good as the ones you get at maschu! you can choose from a lot of delicious vegetable sauces and salads (ask for vegan in case...) and pay only 3 euros. highly recommended!

cafe einfahrt is right at karmeliter market, a place you shouldn t miss on saturday mornings for instance. because on that day you get a huge variety of fresh vegetables/fruits/homemade products from farmers near vienna way less expensive than at naschmarket. after buying stuff for a delicious weekend dish, take a coffee at cafe einfahrt. they serve good and cheap breakfast, have a lot of good music magazines/newspaper to read and a pleasant atmosphere

this is the shop that delivers restaurants like vegetasia with their vegan/vegetarian products as far as i know. in the second district formosa has a tiny shop where a friendly lady with fantastic recipe advices guides you from fridge to fridge filled with delicious content. not just wonderful food, it s also an interesting way of shopping i think.

Untere Augartenstrasse 5

small recordshop near the donaukanal that has a good and wide selection of second hand pop/rock and soul/funk vinyls and cds. they also have a lot of special cd boxes and dvds that make good presents :) . the problem is that they change their business hours regularly and that they don t have any gear to listen to the records in the shop individually. but ohrenschmaus' bonus is that not a lot of young diggers go there/know about it so you can easily find rare stuff for a fair price.

Closed Prindl - Konditorei und Bäckerei
Jägerstraße 2
1200 Vienna

Reviewed 16. Jan 2007

this restaurant with the weird name (allegedly it was an asian restaurant before and the new owners kept the name) looks like a canteen a bit but it s charming though. it s a nice hang out for an afternoon coffee with friends (big tables) but also for hausmannskost, kinda plain fare. if you re vegetarian/vegan i recommend spring rolls (tell the waiter if you want them vegan, the staff is very friendly there)

Closed Teuchtler Schallplattenhandlung
Windmühlgasse 10
1060 Vienna

best record shop in vienna for 'diggin' the crates'. it was opened by the teuchtler family in 1948 and so of course you find everything from shellacs to jazz, from beatles original pressings to brand new promo copies from djs. it s vienna s vinylheaven in a way because they have tons and tons of unorganized records everywhere so you better bring enough time to find your way through. but in the end i promise you ll leave the shop with some hard to find darlings for a really fair price and the feeling of being a modern age golddigger. of course they have cds as well...
