I have never been in Café Carina during daytime, and the idea woudn´t ever strike me, I guess. But at night they have live music, mainly bands from Vienna (very often newcomers). The sound is not great, but the place has a lot of atmosphere.
It is a very good option of getting to know the Viennese music scene (from alternative to soul, singer/songwriter etc.)
If you want to smell like an ashtray, go there. It is horrible! The air is getting so thick from smoke in the evening that it is really unbearable. I do smoke occasionally, but in there I don´t like to do so. Pity, because the place is actually quite nice...

My absolute favourite of all Viennese cafés. It is quiet, cosy, the waiters are very friendly which is quite untypical for Vienna.
Delicious cakes, try the hot chocolate and the weisser Spritzer.
The only negative thing is that they close too early for my tase: 9pm.
Nice Schanigarten in summer.
Nettes Lokal im MQ, nichts außergewöhnliches, aber solide Küche, auch nicht zu teuer. Das Service könnte etwas besser (=freundlicher und schneller) sein.
The Glacis Beisl is in the Museumsquartier, which is in the 7th district, not in the 1st.
Food is excellent, staff is very helpful and skilled (especially concerning wine).
Not on the cheap side at all, though. Make sure to book ahead, especially when you want to sit in the wonderful and shady garden in summer.
The interieur is stylish but warm and comfy.

Costume agency which focusses on clothes from the Sixties and Seventies. The shop is stuffed with clothes, accessories and shoes. It is kind of a challenge to see through everything, as there doesn´t seem to be a kind of system, but the nice owner will surely give you a hand. I rented a dress for EUR 15,- and the very helpful owner also gave me dozens of necklaces which were included in the price for the dress.
You can also buy clothes there (that´s what I actually did because the dress was just lovely).
Most of the things are second-hand and the shop has the typical smell of second-hand-shops. But this shouldn´t be an obstacle to your going there.
Leider kein Essen (muss man selbst organisieren).
Die Qualität der Sound-Anlage ist leider eher mäßig, (deshalb leider nicht die vollen 5 Sterne)
Nicely designed Chinese restaurant, which looks a little more like a kind of "modernes Wiener Beisl".
Simple dark furniture, very nice staff.
Food is excellent. Try the "Gan-Bien Rindfleischstreifen" (EUR 11,-), they are crispy and hot and you won´t need any starter or desert.
One of the best Italian restaurants in town. Very small, very unpretentious, very friendly. They serve food typical for il Salento, a region in the very south of la Puglia (Brindisi, Bari, Lecce area). Excellent fish (try the octopus salad), wonderful tuna steak, nice pasta. Huge portions, so make sure you are really hungry when going there. Italian wine, also from the region.
Book ahead!
