For some reason I like to sit in the outside area watching the Fiaker and their horses that park nearby, only mildly deterred by the pretty hefty price tags on little things like "Soda Zitron'".
The food is pretty much Kaffeehaus standard, neither here nor there, ok I guess.
P.S.: In addition to Eiskaffee they also have Eisschokolade (Ice hot chocolate basically).
The St. Josef is a unique place. Every time I go there I have the feeling I am with friends. Everybody is extremely friendly and forthcoming, the food seems to be prepared with love, not to mention that it is also tasty, organic, and fresh.
Just be sure to get there before the noon rush. St. Josef seems to have many friends like me.
This is THE place for ice cream in Vienna!
Not only is the ice cream delicious, but the service is most excellent. No matter how busy the place, your order will arrive within minutes. They have an outdoors heating system, which makes it possible to eat ice cream in winter, sitting outside. It doesn't get better than that.
From the outside it looks generic, on the inside it is full of charm. It also has a very cozy and stylish seating space in the basement. Their apfelstrudel is amazing.
Beware though: If the (apparently french) owner starts liking you too much, she will start to peck your cheek and pat your belly...
What mike said. Bestest fake meat experience I had so far. I even had to pass on the fish because it was too close to real fish. And real fish, not my thing.
