A quiet neighbourhood spot with friendly service.

They've recently added an "All You Can Eat" menu, but I haven't tried it yet.

Once considered by many to be the best place for fish and chips in Toronto. These days it's still good, but not great. Expect line-ups on weekend evenings.

A good choice for AYCE (All You Can Eat) sushi in Toronto. Service was excellent.

Closed El Sol Mexican Art Cafe
1448 Danforth Ave
Toronto, ON M4J 1N4

Reviewed 13. Apr 2007

This "cafe" has the best and most authentic Mexican food I've found in Toronto. The service is a bit slow, but that's to be expected for authentic Mexican! It's not fancy and the art/crafts on the walls give it a nice feeling.

Yes, it's "Canadian-style Chinese food", but at least they don't use any MSG. Not cheap, but convenient. You can order through their web site.

Take-out and delivery only. Various locations.

Closed Katsu Sushi Japanese Restaurant
572 Danforth Ave
Toronto, ON M4K 1R1

My first exposure to sushi took place at Katsu. It wasn't spectacular, but good enough that I tried other places and became addicted to the stuff.

I've been back to Katus a few times for the "All You Can Eat" menu. The best comment I can make is that it's never been bad. The quality is inconsistent, ranging from fair to very good, but never quite excellent. It is reasonably priced.

A close second (to Sushi Island) for AYCE (All You Can Eat) sushi in Toronto. Appetizers and dessert are included.

Their firecracker roll is amazing!

Closed Malt 'n Salt Fish & Chips
285 Lawson Road
Toronto, ON M1C 2J6

When it first opened, this was a great place for halibut and chips. However, a change of management has seen it degrade to just mediocre now. What a shame.

The guacamole is divine! As fresh as it could possibly be, it comes in a mortar with pestle.

The taco combo wasn't anything special, but the enchiladas were tasty. Service was good.

Toronto, ON M4K 1N7

Formerly in the Carrot Common on the north side of Danforth, the current location on the opposite side of the street opened in 2006. Unfortunately they seem to have left behind what made them a great choice for "All You Can Eat" sushi. Now it is barely gets a passing grade. The low price is the only enticement now.
