The "Altstadtbeisl", or "Elfi" as it is called because of an old owner, is one of those cafes that help the cooler people to survive their teenager years growing up on the counrtyside. "Elfi" always was the place, where those people were hanging out, that weren't into pubs or fancy bars or discos. So under the parents always went rumours that drug-dealers go there. But there haven't been more drug-dealers when anywhere else.
Lot's of people going to the "Elfi" went to university to Graz or Vienna and brought back the coolest records on the weekends. So you could hear new HipHop-, new Electronica- or just the new Metal-records.
At least it was like that in the early Nineties. I haven't been there for quite a while. But on the day before Christmas and on the Easter weekend you can go there and you'll meet up all the people from back then.
If you ever come to Judenburg, you for sure should check it out.

Nice cafe near the water (Landwehrkanal). Funny interior. Great to sit outside in Summer.

Typical asian supermarket with lots of vegan/vegetarian products. Good tofu and some fresh sprouts etc. Really cheap.

Maybe the best Asian food (Mapo To-Fu ) I've had in my whole life. The atmosphere is a little cold and the prices are quite high. Not that many vegan/vegetarian options, but definitely worth to give a try!

Quite small café that looks like a tiny version of a chain, but it isn't. Only three or four tables - the seats are quite comfortable. The tea (provided by Teekanne) is good as well. Prices are okay - but not cheap. You can get breakfast and wine. It was a wine-shop before, acutally.

Vegan and vegetarian food only. Really tasteful. Menu isn't that big, but enough to discover. Really, really friendly staff working there.

You only can get potatoes there. But there are lots of different ways to enjoy your potatoes. Good for Vegetarians and meat lovers. Not that good for Vegans. I had plane potatoes (Pellkartoffeln) with salt. But those were really, really good.
