a decent-at-best patio out back and an occasionally questionable jukebox, but overall a nice neighborhood spot to get a quick drink.

although i realize evanston is quite a ways north for most people, if you're up in that area or looking for a good vegetarian restaurant that isn't chicago diner (yuck), blind faith is the best.
they have meals that will suit any diet - vegetarian, vegan, even macrobiotic. they can do wonderful things with seitan (the seitan marsala and seitan fajitas are two of my favorites). delicious baked goods as well.
a bit on the expensive side, but well worth it.

i've never really been that into chicago diner. i can see the appeal in theory, but in reality it has always been pretty gross. in addition to the food being "okay" at best, it's really expensive.
they do have really excellent baked goods, though!

cute little coffee shop in the heart of downtown austin. 1/2 price coffee drinks monday through friday from 5-7pm... who doesn't love that?

you can find migas all over the damn city, but nowhere serves chilaquiles - except mr natural. i hear the tamales are excellent as well.

you'll probably find better mexican food in austin, but you will not find a better margarita or a patio. i love this place and am here on a weekly basis - they're very accommodating of large groups of drunk women.

my favorite pizza joint in austin. truly outstanding pizza, great selection of toppings, not too expensive. the only sad thing is that i don't believe they deliver.

nice downtown bar that's rarely overrun by typical 6th street douchey partiers.

waaaay down south but well worth the trip. everything is vegan, decently priced, and delicious. they only serve the vegan mac and cheese on tuesday nights, so keep that in mind. i've heard reports of the staff being very rude sometimes, but they have always been decent to me.

it would be easy to overlook this place if you didn't know it was there. it looks like kind of a dump. .... okay, it IS kind of a dump. nonetheless, it has amazing, cheap breakfast tacos and the best migas in town.
