There's sure to be a wait on the weekend, but service tends to be fast. The food can feel a bit greasier than some breakfast spots, and the prices seem a bit spendy for the quality of food. But the menu is pretty big with interesting specials, so there's a lot of variety. I like the biscuits, and the hashbrowns over the homefries. Maybe I've been having too many good espresso drinks lately, but the house coffee tasted a little astringent last time.

This is a popular weekend brunch spot, so popular in fact that they recently expanding into the neighboring space to help deal with the lines.

I've only been here for lunch so far, but the falafel burger was excellent (and extra filling with a fried egg added) and the seasoned and perfectly crispy shoestring fries are probably one of the best fry offerings in Portland. The space is open and light-filled with a lovely minimalist decor. I definitely plan on returning for the portobello sandwich and breakfast too!

This cute and tiny local favorite is the place to go when downtown for light meals and snacks. While there are definitely vegan options, the special sandwiches are often more meat-oriented. The daily soups are hearty and flavorful, the pies scrumptious, and I always have a debate over the deviled eggs. If you're lucky you'll get your (Stumptown) coffee served in a lovely blue cup.

On top of all this, they are dedicated to serving quality food. I have to respect a cafe that will tell me straight-up, "We don't have tomatoes right now because they aren't any good," and then offer a substitution.

The coffee is above-average, and the sandwiches and panini (served with pepperoncini on the side) are especially good. But Tiny's loses some points for lacking decor. They recently renovated both the SE and NE locations, the SE renovation being a bit more extensive, but with neglible improvements to overall experience. At least the couches returned to SE after a couple of weeks, as without them it seemed that seating was cut in half after opening up the space. The seating and chair combinations at both locations feel strangely disproportionate, as in table-height-to-seat-height awkwardness.

It may not mean anything, but the past two times I ordered food here, they got my order wrong. But they usually play good music and the back patio is lovely in mild weather.
