It was goood! Tasty with good quality ingredients and very friendly service . The decor is nice, cozy and it is easy to navigate between tables. They were willing to make a small change in my order to make it vegetarian ( you will be surprised how many waiters roll their eyes at this kind of requests) I paid 10.80 for a good size pizza plus 3.50 for a glass of wine. I think overall the price is fair for what they deliver. I am going back.

Probably one of the best pizzas I have eaten so far. But I have to admit: Most of the pizzas I eat over the year are either delivered or from the deep freeze. So I might not be the absolute gourmet when it comes to pizzas.

Things I noticed about the pizzas at Il Sestante: I like the dough, the tomato-sauce. They put fresh (!) basil on the pizzas and use primarily mozzarella for cheese. I had the impression that they use ingredients that are fresh and of good quality.

The atmosphere somewhat reminded me of a game from my childhood: Pizza Connection (English title: Pizza Tycoon). There you had to arrange all chairs and tables in a way to make the most profit from the room you had. I can understand that, also there are many restaurants that give me that feeling. Besides: The furniture consits of nice wooden tables and chairs, so I don't really mind that they are arranged very space-effective. Also the high quality of their dishes is convincing enough to ignore that.

The service was fast and attentive. Also the last (and second) time I was there the pizza was ready incredibly fast. The first time I went there it was rather crowded and loud, but we also didn't have to wait long for our food.

I'd say it's rather pricey, but imho the prices are in line with the quality they serve.

also mir schmeckt die Pizza ganz gut, die Pasta gar nicht, die Atmoshäre ist Bahnhofshallen gleich und das Service arrogant! Beste Pizza Rossini in 1010

Very nice pizze, but usually equally busy and noisy. Not a cosy place, but definitely worth a visit.

Top ingredients, top preparation and very friendly service! Quite likely the best Pizza I had in Vienna so far. The location opposite Maria Treu Kirche and the lovely outdoor dining area also add to the overall nice experience. If you understand Italian, eavesdropping on the owner is an extra bonus... ;-)

absolutely best italian food in town!
i've already tried almost every pizza and pasta dish and only have been disappointed once (lasagne): great pizza, great pasta, great antipasti and soups, great desserts! cannot speak for the meat and fish dishes, because i haven't eaten them.
friendly and competent staff, even when the place is stuffed - which often happens, as it is very popular, so better get your table reserved.
the size of the portions is very good, regarding this and the quality of the meals, it's not expensive.
    i really can recommend it!

I wandered into this restaurant in June, 2008. I was alone and very tired and looking for a nice place to relax and write in my travel journal. I had noticed how many people were often in this establishment, and they all seemed to be having a wonderful, fun time. So, I dropped in to give it a try.

Yes, the food was very good and I enjoyed it immensely. However, the food is not what stood out in this restaurant - it was the friendliness of the staff. Though they had never seen me before, and even though my German was very limited, the people at this restaurant treated me like I was a valued regular customer, as if I was one of the locals that they saw on a regular basis. Being an American I have suffered through my share of bad, indifferent or just incompetent waiters. But this place was certainly the opposite in every way possible.

I just can't get over how incredibly nice they were to me. Whenever I will be lucky enough to go back to Vienna, I will make sure I eat at this wonderful little restaurant in what has got to be the best section of an incredibly fun town.

I can't praise this place enough. From the first time up through the 843rd time i went there last Friday, it was by far the best pizza experience ever. Almost everyone working there is lots of fun (funny italians you know ;) from the waiters to the master chef pizza cooker guy who stands by the oven constantly building and shoveling pizzas into the oven and shouting at the TV when a football match is on, and entertaining kids who are interested to see him in action... he's quite hilarious and puts extra love into your pizza so when you take a bite you know you have gone to heaven. I haven't yet found a pizza (or CALZONE!!) that i didn't like there.. but i can highly recommend Quattro Formaggio, it's just DRIPPING with so much cheese that you will need to call an ambulance afterwards to take you home ;)

The place not only looks nice, the waiter staff is quite ok and friendly, the non-smoking area is definitely smoke-free and far from the smoking area, the pasta was incredibly good and the pizza I took a bite from was also quite good. All in all, a good experience.

    • Why not? It felt like a 3-star experience, not a 4- or 5-star one. Personally, I prefer the I Terroni. That's just me, though.

    • Why only 3 stars then?

Had a going-away-party this evening at this restaurant. I did not have a pizza, but chose a tomato salad with fresh basil and a spaghetti with garlic, peppers and parsley. The spaghetti was nice, the salad fresh. To me though, I Terroni and I Caruso are still the best Italian restaurants in Vienna. Apart from the food being really, really tasty (both pizza's and pasta's), I like the style of the restaurants plus the service better.

Together with Sasso D'Oro this is probably the best Pizza place outside of the first district. Huge, wonderful outside seating area, perfect Pizzas, and everything else certainly looks divine.

Great pizzas in a wonderful atmosphere (if you can get an outside table). For me, it's my second or third favorite spot for pizza. They get excellent marks for the quality of the crust, the balance in the sauce and the freshness and quality of the toppings. However, I find the lack of even one or two more "interesting" pizzas a hindrance to giving them the coveted fifth star.

I am not asking for California Pizza Kitchen type "gourmet" pizzas, but how about a nice pie with aged pecorino Toscano? Every place has the corn and ham, so why do you?

I got food poisoning here once (I guess the arugula wasn't well-washed), but I return!

Great pizza place. Obviously actual Italian waiters, which is sometimes good, sometimes bad, but definitely authentic. Been there a couple of times as it's close to my office.

Nice outside sitting next to Maria True. Pizzas are great and even the Pasta is good, which is often only average at many Pizza places IMO. The espresso is great, too.

i didn't expect much when i was invited to a nice dinner at this place but, boy, was i in for a surprise: this restaurant is amazing.
make sure to reserve ahead and when the weather allows it, definitely sit outside, across the street, by the church.
lots of real italians dine there which is always a good sign.
i had a pizza marinara with rucula. the dough was thin but not too thin, got crispy and not hard when it started to cool off, the sauce was delicious, and the rucula/arugula was fresh.

prices are affordable, definitely not cheap, though. what a great ristorante!

even the Ciao! the (not our) waiter yelled after us seemed sincere!

Hold up now, tap the brakes. The pizza game in Wien has changed for me completely. Il Sestante is without a doubt, the best pizza and pasta I've had in Wien in my 8 years of calling this wonderful city my home.

The dough was perfect, soft with a little crunch, plenty of sauce and all of the topings tasted as if they were freshly picked prior to making my pizza. The pasta was outstanding and the garlic / rosemary pizza bread was off the hook.

Their giant outside seating area, across the street, in a church square was a perfect setting for an evening out and the area was filled with Italians enjoying their pizza, wine and coffee, which scored a 10 on my ambiance scale.

Highly recommended you call and make a reservation beforehand, as all of their tables were spoken for and were immediately filled when a party left.

An excellent Italian restaurant, with some of the best pizza I've had in Vienna. Not at all overpriced, they also have a lovely courtyard outside, under some trees, which if the weather is nice, is a great place to eat. Highly recommended!
